As a certified coach, I want to talk about you now and about your future.
Sometimes in sessions, we will talk about old situations and past behaviours, when they are relevant to the topic.
NOTE - I AM NOT A THERAPIST, NOR DO I HAVE MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING.
To get the most benefit from coaching, being mentally ok is important.
Of course, we all have our moments and demons, and if you are functioning ok (eg. going to work, paying your bills, taking care of your responsibilities), I am very happy to coach you.
OTHER HELP AVAILABLE
If you are thinking almost exclusively about your past, I would say that therapy would be a much better fit for you.
Please talk to a counsellor or therapist. There are people out there who can help you.

So, it isn't therapy?
NO, it's coaching.
We just talk? Surely I could talk to a friend and make a plan myself?
Sure, talking to friends, colleagues and family can help us.
Often though, they judge without realising, are too close to be impartial and don’t really see us. Personal history and baggage can distort how we listen and how our friends respond.
I am a NEUTRAL PERSON, trained to be OBJECTIVE.
I do NOT JUDGE or COMPARE.
I will LISTEN, SUPPORT YOU, and help you with tools to STAY ON TRACK.
Humans need others. We are hard-wired for connection.
If we could do everything easily by ourselves, there would be a lot less connection (and love, kindness and fun!) in the world.
And we aren’t perfect. We are all unique. Complicated. And that’s ok.
Sometimes, we need help and someone who we can talk to.

Like the analogy of a tree with shallow roots, or a house with weak foundations - we know at pressured moments, without strong foundations, something is going to break or come crashing down on us.
So, we begin with getting to know you.
If you are unsure of who you are, life is confusing.
When you know yourself, as you are right now - so not you when you were small, or 10 years ago - I mean you now, life feels steadier and you have more clarity.
Talking about what you need, want, like, value, what you’re good at, what helps you etc.
Tools to help us here can be simple assessments (eg. wheel of life) or online questionnaires (eg. strengths finder).
This is a fun, discovery stage.
It is the time to feel safe and seen, to prepare yourself and build some extra confidence in yourself.
If you skip this step, you can feel very uncertain further down the road.

Like going on your holidays, if you mess up your packing, it costs you!
What we pack, depends on the destination, duration and reason for going. Some things are essentials. Some are specific to the trip.
To drop the analogy, coaching requires a goal, outcome, time limit and motivation.
This is your essential framework to work within.
Things fall apart without structure, right?

Taking action is often the hardest thing to do.
We all know procrastination, I’m sure. Delaying feeling awkward. We’re unsure what to do, or expect and think that everyone will notice us.
So we stay where we are, in the comfort of what’s familiar.
Yet, discomfort is still there. Tricky, isn’t it?
To take action, you need to get curious about what is on the other side of the discomfort.
Like everything in life, discomfort passes.
Once we have faced something a few times, we don’t feel so self conscious about it. We forget very quickly, when we have something else to think about.
The other side of your discomfort could be the place you can truly call home, your ideal situation, or the best feeling ever.
The thing is, you have got to try, to push forward, fake it, grin and bear some temporary crappy feelings, to get there.
You can definitely do it though.
You might need some support, help, encouragement, motivation - but you CAN do it!
I believe in you.
You need to DO here.
You will be so satisfied and proud of yourself, when you achieve something you’ve not managed before and can say I DID IT!
Honestly, it’s a cracking feeling!

Resources and support are the fuel to keep you going.
They really help you get to where you want to go, easier and quicker.
And are things that you know help you, especially in your hour of need.
This can be anything, from motivational reminders, extra strong coffee, making a list, tidying your desk, quotes, mantras, song or movie lyrics, a cuddle with your cat, a chat with a trusted friend, a bath, going for a walk, a bit of a dance.
Look around you too. See what’s available.
I will be a support person for you in sessions, checking you have things in place to support you here.
You need motivation, to keep you moving forward.
Don’t give up!

Often in sessions, you uncover new thoughts and ideas. And you will need time, to let them sink in and remember them.
So, the time between sessions can be invaluable for you.
Reflecting makes us slow down a bit and relax.
When we are calm, our brain works better and we see things more clearly, which can reduce anxiety and simply be a massive relief!
This part of the coaching process can really help you accept things, be calm and understand yourself.
Do the extra homework.
It’s worth it!
about block bookings

You will get the greatest benefit from regular sessions ie. same day and time slot.
Booking in advance reinforces your commitment to yourself (the client), me (as your coach) and the coaching process.
Weekly sessions are best for newer clients.
Fortnightly is good, if you have related things to develop in between sessions.
More than once a week may help you really delve into a topic, and work through it quicker.

I have included an expiry date for all block bookings and packages, in case you need to skip a week due to other commitments.
I have also included ad hoc sessions, which are flexible sessions.
I know that life can sometimes be hectic, and you aren’t always able to make a set day and time, or might need a last minute session.
Having different times and days and weeks for sessions can be tricky.
It is easy to forget a session, when it’s not part of your usual routine (there are no refunds or rebooking for missed sessions).
Trying to book sessions at short notice might cause you disappointment, if I can’t see you when you would like.
Please be aware that leaving a lot of your sessions as ad hoc, may result in not getting seen, losing your money and time and making zero progress.
It is up to you. You are in charge of structuring your life and sessions.

With the 8 limbs and the dozen packages, I will need you to check in once a month (so every 4 weeks).
This is to check your progress and help you to stay on track. We also reevaluate here and change your goal or plans, if necessary.
